Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli returned to form with a patient half-century against Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2022 game on Saturday at the Brabourne Stadium. While it was a tremendous relief for Kohli, who was coming off a string of poor performances, it was his wife Anushka Sharma’s reaction that went viral on social media.

Kohli hit six boundaries and a single six in his 53-ball 58 as RCB recovered from their skipper Faf du Plessis’ three-ball duck. This was Kohli’s first fifty-plus score of the season and his first in 15 innings in the IPL.

As Kohli crossed the 50-ball mark in his 45th ball of the innings, his wife, Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma, was seen cheering for the former India captain.

Kohli entered the game on the heels of a terrible run of form that included four single-digit scores in his last five innings, as well as two consecutive golden duck dismissals.

Most veteran cricketers were concerned about his form, and many pushed the 33-year-old to rest and pull out of the rest of the IPL 2022. Former India head coach Ravi Shastri believes Kohli has been “overcooked” following his second golden duck of the season.

However, upon returning to his regular position as an opener, Kohli returned to form in spectacular fashion, as RCB concluded with 170 for six in 20 overs. Rajat Patidar, who also scored a half-century and stitched a century stand with Kohli, was an excellent supporter.

With the T20 World Cup in Australia just around the corner, the Indian cricketer’s dismal run of form is a major issue for RCB and India.

The batter had not scored a hundred runs in the previous three years. His most recent century came against Bangladesh in November 2019 at Eden Gardens.

Kohli, who has averaged over 500 runs in each IPL season, failed to anticipate the rookie pacers.
