The Royal Challengers Bangalore need a big win against the Gujarat Titans to keep their playoff hopes alive. The two sides lock horns at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Thursday.

If RCB lose against Hardik Pandya’s GT, they are out of IPL 2022. With this hammer on their head, the 2016 finalists will need their big guns, namely Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and skipper Faf du Plessis, to lead from the front. They are placed on the fifth spot of the points table with seven wins and six losses.

Bangalore come to this match with a 54-run loss to Punjab Kings in their last match. One consistent of Faf du Plessis and co’s campaign is Virat Kohli’s woeful form. The former captain has scored 236 runs in 13 games at an average of less than 20 and strike rate of around 111.

Glenn Maxwell and Rajat Patidar have been getting starts but failed to convert them into big scores.

Bowling wise, RCB will be worried for Josh Hazlewood and Mohammed Siraj’s form.

Gujarat Titans, on the other hand, have secured a playoff berth, in fact a top 2 finish for themselves. They sit on the top of the points table with 20 points in 13 games. A defeat cannot harm them.

GT’s batting department has witnessed some inspirational performances from the likes of Wriddhiman Saha, Shubman Gill, David Miller, skipper Pandya and Rahul Tewatia.

The batting unit has been complemented superbly by a lethal bowling attack led by experienced Mohammed Shami and has the likes of young Yash Dayal, Lockie Fergusson and Alzarri Joseph.
