After rumors of Will Smith heading for divorce, a new report claims that the actor has been going to therapy after his Oscars controversy.

A source told Entertainment Tonight that the King Richard star “has been going to therapy after the Oscars incident.” Smith’s infamous slap is now being said to be the reason for not only him losing out on several projects and a ban from the Academy Awards, but also for sending his marriage with Jada Pinkett Smith to the brink.

At the Oscars, Smith stormed onstage and slapped comedian and host Chris Rock in the face over a joke aimed at his wife.

The news of Smith’s taking therapy sessions comes nearly two weeks after the actor was spotted in public for the first time in India. Smith was seen on April 23 at the private airfield in Mumbai sporting a white T-shirt over a muscle shirt, gray shorts over white compression pants and Jordan sneakers.

According to recent reports, Smith’s slapgate at this year’s Oscars also resulted in tensions between him and his wife.

“There have been problems for years, but they’re barely speaking right now. If they were to split, Will has a fortune of $350million that Jada would be entitled to half of under Californian law,” Mirror UK reported, citing Heat Magazine.

Smith recently resigned from the Academy and apologised to Rock and his family. He was banned from attending Oscars ceremonies for the next decade.

Last month, Smith’s wife confessed that she “really didn’t want to get married” to Smith.

“I was under so much pressure, you know, being a young actress, being young, and I was just, like, pregnant and I just didn’t know what to do,” declared Pinkett Smith, 50, in a freshly exhumed snippet from her “Red Table Talk” Facebook series. “I never wanted to be married.”
