Jack Leach, who was ruled out of England’s first Test vs New Zealand at the Lord’s Stadium, London following a head injury, was on Friday named in the playing 11 for the Trent Bridge game that starts Friday. Ben Stokes and co had defeated the Kiwis in the first game and lead the three-match series 1-0.

England named their playing 11 for the second Test against New Zealand. The team was unchanged from the Lord’s Test, except Matthew Parkinson who replaced Leach, has been benched.

Off-spinner Jack Leach had sustained a head injury while saving a boundary in London. He couldn’t continue as per concussion protocols. However, the 30-year-old was passed fit to play.

“Jack Leach continued his seven-day mandatory concussion return-to-play protocol and is fit to play in the match,” England Cricket said.

New Zealand have not named their playing 11 yet.

England rode on former skipper Joe Root’s ton in the second innings at Lord’s to win the first Test by five wickets. The 31-year-old played an unbeaten 115-run knock off 170 balls in the second innings as the hosts chased down New Zealand’s 277-run target in 78.5 overs.

Ben Stokes, England’s recently appointed captain, didn’t bowl much in the nets on Wednesday and was seen holding his side and in conversation with the team doctor. He was in the lineup, however, and looks to be a fifth option in the bowling attack.
