Jada Pinkett Smith has expressed her happiness after the Senate confirmed Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court. In an Instagram post on Thursday, Pinkett Smith shared two images of Jackson along with a message.
“She did it! Congrats #ketanjibrownjackson,” she captioned the images.
US President Joe Biden’s campaign promise to appoint the first Black woman to the high court was fulled with Jackson passing the Senate.

The vote was bipartisan, 53-47, with Republican Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Mitt Romney of Utah voting for Jackson.
“This is one of the great moments of American history,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said before the vote. “Today we are taking a giant, bold and important step on the well-trodden path to fulfilling our country’s founding promise. This is a great moment for Judge Jackson but it is an even greater moment for America as we rise to a more perfect union.”
President Biden called the vote a “historic moment” for the nation.
“We’ve taken another step toward making our highest court reflect the diversity of America,” Biden posted on Twitter with an image of him taking a selfie with Jackson.
This is the second time Pinkett Smith has spoken out on social media since the slap incident at the Oscars where her husband Will Smith hit host Chris Rock over a joke at the 50-year-old actress’ bald head.

In the days following the incident, Pinkett Smith shared a cryptic message about healing.
“This is a season for healing and I’m here for it,” the actress wrote with no mention of the Oscars’ incident.
Following the incident – which divided the internet with some supporting Smith’s actions while others blaming him for taking it to far – the Academy’s committee launched an investigation.
The Academy Board of Governors will be meeting Friday to discuss the incident. The earlier date had been set for April 18.
