One right-wing commentator, who goes by the name Salty Crackers, on video had said that “This is going to be a Red Wedding going down on January 6.” The reference is a pretty morbid one, pointing to an infamous episode of HBO’s Game of Thrones, where an entire family is murdered at a wedding.

The committee played a host of videos from the likes of InfoWars owner Alex Jones to YouTube commentator Tim Pool, amongst a host of others who had arrived in Washington D.C. on January 6 at the behest of Trump. January 6 is the day that Congress certifies the votes from the Electoral Colleges. In a video, Jones calls for people to “take action” and to “show our numbers.”

On the other hand, Pool said that those presenting themselves at Capitol Hill on January 6 would be there to make the former president’s “final stand.”  Pool said that Jan 6 was something that was going to be “the big push” and that it was time for supporters of Trump to act, that it was “now or never.”

According to member of the committee, Representative Jamie Raskin, “Trump’s call to Washington reverberated powerfully and pervasively online.” Raskin said that the committee had previously interviewed a former Twitter employee, who mentioned that the social media company had earlier considered putting in place stricter content moderation protocols following Trump’s tweet where he told Proud Boys (a neo-fascist organisation that has been classified as a terrorist organisation in Canada) to “stand back and stand by”. However, the company chose not to act.
