Twitter suspended a post by clinical psychologist and television personality Jordan B Peterson, hours after he slammed transgender actor Elliot Page.

“Remember when pride was a sin? And Ellen Page just had her breasts removed by a criminal physician,” Peterson wrote in a tweet which violated the platform’s policies against “hateful conduct,” according to The New York Post.

Peterson, who joined conservative news outlet Daily Wire earlier this week, has gained notoriety for his anti-trans stance. In an old episode of Joe Rogan’s podcast, the 60-year-old psychologist said that transgenderism is similar to “satanic ritual abuse” and is the consequence of a “contagion.”

His deleted tweet wasn’t the only hateful opinion on Twitter, the micro-blogging platform that will potentially be owned by Elon Musk in the near future. Musk, who identifies himself as the CEO of SpaceX, Tesla, and most importantly, a “free speech absolutist”, welcomes all opinions with open arms on Twitter, no matter how harsh they may be.

This has raised concerns in the LGBTQIA+ community, which has started to become the prime target of hateful speech on the platform.

On the other hand, Peterson’s daughter Mikhaila, thinks that Twitter is no way near to being a free speech platform.

“Wow. @jordanbpeterson got a twitter strike. No more twitter until he deletes the tweet. Definitely not a free speech platform at the moment @elonmusk,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, Musk has said that he supports the community, but also thinks that “pronouns suck.” The 51-year-old hasn’t had a change of heart, even after his transgender child Xavier Musk decided to drop his surname and recently filed legal documents in order to be identified as a trans woman named Vivian Jenna Wilson.
