Rapper Kanye West has pulled out of Coachella 2022, TMZ reported, quoting sources. Travis Scott, who was rumoured to be joining West for the performance, will also not be making an appearance.

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is set for April 15-17 and April 22-24 at the Empire Polo Grounds in California. The event did not take place in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Harry Styles, Billie Eilish and EDM group Swedish House Mafia were supposed to headline the festival alongside Kanye West.

The reason behind the 44-year-old’s decision was not known and the replacement headliner has not been revealed at this time.

Meanwhile, a petition was launched by fans to remove the rapper from the line-up after his Instagram post about Trevor Noah contained racial slurs.

“We have watched Kanye harass, manipulate, and hurt Kim, Pete, and others for over a year now. No one seems to want to stand up to him, and the ones that do, he puts under fire as well. Most recently, he has been threatening actual bodily harm on others. This is ridiculous that he is allowed to freely do this. Coachella (along with other brand names that are still working with him) should be ashamed of themselves and should not be giving him any more of a platform,” the caption of the Change.org petition read.

Kanye West was suspended from Instagram for 24 hours.
