Makers of Aamir Khan-starrer ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ recently unveiled a new track from the film. Titled ‘Main Ki Karaan’, the soulful track revolves around the protagonist’s childhood.

It starts off with a voiceover in Punjabi by Khan, followed by vocals by Sonu Nigam. The track is composed by Pritam and has lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya. It was released along with a video featuring the behind-the-scenes of Nigam’s jam sessions.

A poster of the track features young Laal and a girl, holding hands as they walk through a forested path. It bears resemblance to the stills from ‘Forrest Gump, the Hollywood film that ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ is an adaptation of.

The lyrical video uploaded on Youtube features a large tree that stands tall in the middle of a mustard field. As a slight breeze blows through the field, lyrics of ‘Main Ki Karaan’ feature in white text and cursive font.

The 4-minute-19 second-long video goes on to display lyrics with the same background. A slow timelapse features the sunset and night in the field.

“When Pritam approached me for the song, he told me how Aamir Khan only wanted me to sing it. I’ve sung for Aamir before and all those songs were super hits and received so much love from audiences. I believe Main Ki Karaan is going to be another winner in our journey,” Nigam said, according to Hindustan Times.

The tracks from the film have only been released in a lyrical video format, keeping Khan‘s choice in mind to give the music sufficient attention.

‘Main Ki Karaan’ comes a month after the release of the first song from the film, titled ‘Kahaani’, which was heavily promoted on social media through live sessions and filters.

‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, produced collaboratively by Aamir Khan Productions, Paramount Pictures and Viacom18 Studios, is slated to release on August 11. It also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Mona Singh.
