Janata Dal (United) candidate Mohd Abdul Nasir has won the Lilon assembly constituency defeating Y Antas Khan of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by a margin of 570 votes.

Lilong assembly constituency has Y. Antas Khan of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) taking on Syed Anwar Hussain of the Indian National Congress (INC) and Mohd Abdul Nasir of the Janata Dal (United) this year in the Manipur assembly elections.

Mohd Abdul Nasir of the Congress had won the Lilong seat in 2017 when the INC swept Manipur winning 28 of Manipur’s 60 assembly seats. Nasir had beaten his closest rival Y. Antas Khan by over 1,268 votes. Khan had contested that election on an independent ticket.

In 2012, the seat was won by Md. Abdul Nasir of the INC. 

Lilong falls under the Thoubal district and the Inner Manipur Lok Sabha constituency, which is made up of 32 assembly seats.

Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh of BJP represented Inner Manipur as a member of Parliament in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Dr. Rajkumar defeated Oinam Nabakishore Singh from the INC with a margin of 17,755 votes.

The Lilong assembly constituency voted in the second phase of the Manipur elections on March 5, 2022, along with 21 other constituencies. 

Results will be declared on March 10, along with those for elections in four other states, including Uttar Pradesh.
