A USbased company recently launched a perfume that smells like French fries. Releasing the limited-edition on Valentine’s Day, the Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) wrote, “The Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) has bottled one of the world’s most irresistible scents, fresh Idaho Potato French fries just in time for Valentine’s Day. Frites by Idaho is a limited-edition fragrance available only on the IPC’s website.”

Exclusively available on the firm’s website, the bizarre perfume is made with  “distilled Idaho potatoes and essential oils.” The French fry scented perfume comes in a 1.7-ounce crystalline bottle. A golden plate on the bottle reads ‘Frites by Idaho’.

Makers of the perfume were struck by the idea through a national survey by Pollfish that deduced that nearly 90% of Americans are drawn to the smell of hot french fries.

“Whether you’re at a drive-through restaurant or dining in, it’s near impossible to not grab a fry and take a bite before you dive into your meal. The smell is too good to resist. This perfume is a great gift for anyone who can’t refuse a French fry,” stated Jamey Higham, president and CEO at IPC.

Pictures of the perfume bottle have been going viral on the internet. Uploaded by a user on Twitter, a picture of the fragrance has garnered over 500 likes and several retweets. One internet user asked, “Does it come with Fry Sauce lotion?”

Another user added, “April Fool’s Day is still weeks away.”

On the other hand, one user stated, “Thank you for bringing this to my attention and thanks in advance for the gift my friend.”

A French-fry scented perfume isn’t the only bizarre perfume to hit market shelves. Conventional floral notes have been replaced by olfactory notes of a funeral home, car garage, marijuana, meat, bodily fluids, tobacco, bacon, cheese, and horses. Several fragrance companies have opted for bizarre scents in the past.
