The cost of a 19-kg LPG cylinder in Delhi has been reduced by Rs 198, state-owned retailers said in a statement.

In Kolkata, the price of an LPG cylinder has dropped by Rs 182. However, it has fallen by Rs 190.50 in Mumbai and Rs 187 in Chennai. The price of commercial cylinders has also been cut by Indian Oil. Domestic LPG cylinder customers have gotten no relief. The price of a 14.2-kg household cylinder has not decreased. It is still available at the same price as on May 19.

This follows a rate reduction in commercial cylinder costs last month. Previously, the price was reduced by Rs 135 with effect from June 1.

Last month, the price of a household LPG cylinder in Delhi was raised to Rs 1,003, the second straight rise in one month. Rising crude oil prices internationally forced state-owned fuel merchants to raise LPG prices.

Meanwhile, the government levied an export tax on petrol, diesel, and jet fuel (ATF) supplied internationally by corporations like Reliance Industries Ltd, as well as a windfall tax on crude oil produced locally by ONGC and Vedanta Ltd.

According to finance ministry announcements, the government levied a Rs 6 per litre tax on the export of petrol and ATF and a Rs 13 per litre tax on the export of diesel. It also imposed an extra tax of Rs 23,250 per tonne on locally produced crude oil.

To address the current account deficit (CAD) and surging gold imports, the government increased gold import duty to 15% from 10.75%. Previously, the standard customs charge on gold was 7.5%; henceforth, it will be 12.5%. The effective gold customs duty will be 15%, plus a 2.5% agriculture infrastructure development cess (AIDC), according to PTI.
