Arsenal have reportedly come to an agreement on personal terms with wantaway Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus, and the Gunner’s are prepared to offer the Brazilian a massive pay hike in order to lure him away from the Etihad.

As per Football Insider, Mikel Arteta‘s side want to make Jesus their marquee attacking signing this summer, with the likes of Alexandre Lacazette leaving the club and doubts over Eddie Nketiah’s future.

The publication, citing sources at Arsenal, further reported that the Gunners have offered Jesus a long-term deal, as well as a substantial pay hike, and that the club has set aside £45 million for the signing. Although a fee has not yet been agreed with City, the two clubs are expected to be in contact for formal negotiations soon.

As for Jesus’ wages, The Sun has reported that Arsenal are willing to offer the 23-year-old a weekly wage of £190,000 plus bonuses, more than double of what the Brazilian earns at City.

Beyond the lucrative financials, however, a move to Arsenal would also be a boon for Jesus, who has found himself not getting as much game time as he would like under Pep Guardiola.

To compound matters, City’s signings of Julian Alvarez and the prolific Erling Haaland is likely to send Jesus further down the pecking order. Additionally, with Jesus entering the final 12 months of his contract with City, the club may have no option but to cash in on the Brazilian this summer to prevent him from leaving on a free transfer in 2023.

At Arsenal, Jesus would almost be guaranteed a spot in the starting XI, with the Gunners currently lacking an out-and-out centre forward, and it would make perfect sense for the Brazilian to secure a move to London.
