Phil Foden of the Manchester City won his second consecutive Premier League Young Player of the Season award on Saturday. The 19-year-old had a brilliant 2021/22 season. He has scored nine goals and assisted five in 23 matches (plus 4 as a sub).

Foden averages 35 passes per match with a pass completion rate of 88%. He has received one yellow card this season and his average Infogol Player Rating in the Premier League 2021/22 season is 7.57.

The English mid-fielder will be in action when his side, Manchester City, face Aston Villa on Sunday in a key title deciding game. Pep Guardiola’s men (90) lead Liverpool (89) by one points after 37 games. Jurgen Klopp and co face Wolves. 

“I am very proud to have won this award for a second season in a row. There are so many talented young players in the Premier League and it is a real honour to win it again,” Foden said.

The City player further added that he hopes that the season is successful for the club. 

“I have been really happy with my performances this season and it has been great to contribute to this team in what will hopefully be another successful year for us all. To be nominated alongside so many great players is an honour as they have all had great seasons for their clubs,” he added.

Phil Foden won the award after winning most combined votes from the public and a Premier League panel. Only players under 23 years of age are eligible for the honours. Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold,  Crystal Palace’s Conor Gallagher, Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell, Chelsea’s Mason Mount, Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale, Aston Villa’s Declan Rice and Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka were the other nominations for the award.
