Several parts in and around Delhi witnessed power blackouts due to heavy rain accompanied by strong winds early this morning. The bad weather also affected flight operations at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport with several airlines requesting passengers to check on their flight status before heading to the airport.

News agency ANI reported quoting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and said that between 5:40 am till 7 am, the temperature in the city fell by 11 degrees Celsius, from 29 degrees Celsius to 18 degrees Celsius.

In an earlier tweet, the IMD said vulnerable structures and kutcha houses could suffer damages due to the thunderstorm, and that traffic disruptions are likely.

It also predicted thunderstorms with moderate intensity rain and gusty winds with speeds of 60-90 Km/h would continue to occur over and adjoining areas of entire Delhi and NCR during the next two hours.

Strong winds and heavy rain uprooted trees in parts of Delhi which resulted in roads getting blocked.
