Jos Buttler has carried his rich vein into the ODI series against Netherlands. The IPL 2022 Orange Cap holder smashed 162 runs in England’s record ODI score of 498/4 in the first game and then followed it up with an unbeaten 86 in the third game. Eoin Morgan and co won the contest 3-0.

In the third ODI in Amstelveen on Wednesday, Buttler, who was leading the team, smashed seven boundaries and five maximums. Jason Roy’s unbeaten 101 off 86 balls helped England chase down a 245-run target with 19.5 overs to spare. 

One moment in Buttler’s 64-ball knock that stood out was his six on a double bounce delivery. The wicketkeeper-batter chased a ball, outside the pitch, and deposited it in the stands.

The incident occured in the 29th over of the second innings. Netherlands pacer Paul van Meekeren attempted a bouncer that did not go as planned. The ball jumped off the pitch after the first bounce and landed outside the pitch down the leg side. Buttler went after it to smash it away.

In the first innings, pacer David Willey picked a key four-wicket haul helped England bowl the hosts out for 244. Netherlands skipper Scott Edwards scored his third consecutive half-century.

 “We’ve played very well. Brilliant with the ball, good batting as well. There’s a lot of cricket coming up which is very exciting, we have great depth in this squad, very excited. Great debut for Payne, Brydon Carse looks exciting and Salt has also been impressive. Thank you to the Barmy Army for travelling to Amsterdam,” said England captain Buttler, who finished the three-match ODI series with 248 runs. He was named the player of the series.
