The Met Gala is here again. This year’s super-exclusive event is being hosted with a smaller invite list, but twice the glamour. Around 400 guests will be invited to the Met Gala 2022, lower than pre-pandemic highs of 500-600.

Here are all the questions, asked and answered, about the upcoming Met Gala:

Is there a theme?

Guests have been told that this year’s theme for the Met Gala will be “Gilded glamour, white-tie”, Associated Press reported. Like every year, not everyone is expected to follow the theme and not go overboard with their fashion choices. Others are expected to follow the theme of the event and come in sync with the exhibit.

Who will be hosting and organising the event?

The organiser will be Vogue’s lead editor Anna Wintour, as she has been for decades. The Met Gala will see a completely revamped set of hosts this year, moving on from Timothee Chalamet, Billie Eilish, Amanda Gorman and Naomi Osaka.

This year’s hosts will be Regina King, power couple Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, according to reports from Associated Press.

Who all are invited to this year’s Met Gala?

While the full invite list is kept under the lid, newly minted Oscar or Grammy winners are always the top contenders on the rookie list. Met Gala veterans are also usually invited. Influentials from fields like sports, politics, theatre and fashion also make an appearance.

Media reports suggest that Vogue’s lead editor Anna Wintour has invited the entire Kardashian-Jenner clan to the Met Gala.

What happens inside the Met Gala?

Entering the museum, guests walk past an impossibly enormous flower arrangement in the lobby (one was over 250,000 white roses) and over to cocktails, often held in the airy Petrie Court. Or, they head to view the exhibit.
