Elon Musk, the SpaceX and Tesla CEO, is a father of seven but one of his children wants nothing to do with him. She’s filed legal documents to drop the Musk name and is changing her full name – in the process, legally declaring her gender identity. As per Plainsite, a US-based website which is dedicated to legal data transparency, the petition was filed on April 18, 2022.

The documents were filed in LA County by Xavier Musk, as per TMZ. This was the name, Musk‘s child was given at birth but having turned 18 in April, Xavier decided to change her name to Vivian Jenna Wilson.

The documents say she wants to be recognized as a female. However, the name change also indicates a clear want of separation from Musk and reads “the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form”, as per TMZ.

Musk, for his part, has stated that he supports ‘trans‘, but finds the ‘pronouns’ to be ‘an esthetic nightmare’. These pronouns refer to personal or preferred pronouns, which a person chooses to reflect which gender they identify with.

Neither father nor child has publicly addressed their relationship or Wilson’s gender identity.

Musk’s child has a twin, Griffin. The last name Wilson comes from their mother, Justine Wilson, the Canadian author. She was married to Musk from 2000 to 2008, during which time, they welcomed triplets Damian, Saxon, and Kai, apart from Xavier, who’s now Vivian, and Griffin. The two had a son, Nevada, who was born in 2002 but died of sudden infant death syndrome – which is the sudden unexpected death of a child, less than one year of age.

Justine announced on September 13, 2008, that she and Musk were getting a divorce. Later, while writing for Marie Claire, Justine said Musk made “fun of her” and asserted himself as the “alpha” in the relationship.
