Celebrities walking down the red carpet of Oscars 2022 showed their support for Ukrainian refugees around the world on Sunday as they walked into Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre. Jamie Lee Curtis, Diane Warren and Yuh-Jung Youn were among those wearing blue ribbons that said “#WithRefugees.”

Golden Globe winner Jamie Lee Curtis said that she wanted to “move the needle” on asking questions about the ongoing invasion of Ukraine. She wore a blue-knot ribbon tied to her left ring finger.

Diane Warren was seen with a similar ribbon pinned to her chest at the Oscars red carpet on Sunday evening. She said that her act was not “political”, adding that “it is human and it is the least we can do”, according to reports from USA Today.

Warren picked a silky-looking green suit to wear over a black turtle neck. Her outfit was completed with a thick silver chain around her neck. The songwriter is attending the Oscars on Sunday after grabbing her 13th nomination. She has been nominated for the “Best Original Song” category for producing ‘Somehow You Do’.

Yuh-Jung Youn, who is famed for her role in ‘Minari’, wore the ribbon in support of the Ukrainian refugees on top of her long-sleeved black overall dress. The outfit was rounded up by golden buttons.

The 74-year-old, who is a refugee from North Korea herself, said that she wished to see a world where every refugee had a home and there was no war, according to reports from USA Today.

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which started on February 24 this year, more than 3.5 million Ukrainians have been already been displaced. Many have crossed Western borders and have found shelter in countries like Poland, according to statistics provided by the United Nations.
