Priya Singh shared a photo on LinkedIn of herself in a cab with
the driver performing namaz in the backseat, and the post has gone viral.

‘I took an Uber from the airport and after 10 min, Azaan started
playing in driver’s mobile…I asked him “Iftar kiya apne” he replied
“Haan aaj road per hi ho gaya kyuki rental duty thi” I again asked
“Do you want to pay namaaz” he asked “Can I?”. We parked the car
on the road side to let him do his prayers in the back seat, while I sit in the
front seat,’ Ms Singh said in her post.

She further added: “That’s the kind of India my parents taught me
about. P.S. We spoke in length about harmony and I expressed my wish to post
this to fuel the basics of humanity, on all social media platforms!”

In today’s chaotic world, everyone is preoccupied with a variety
of activities that stop them from taking time to help someone in need, but
there are still individuals who put humanity first and go out of their way to
aid those in need. Emotions like empathy and love do not need grand gestures and that indeed is one of the very reasons this video has gone viral among the masses.

This simple act has gained utmost significance in India given the unseemly controversy that has been surrounding the subject of namaz over loudspeakers, or hijabs and the Muslim community in general. With the increase in communal divide in India, incidents like these prove that India’s very essence of ‘unity in diversity’ is still striving among the hearts of Indians.

Kindness, however, does not prevail everywhere. This was proved by
another viral video where a woman was paraded naked after being labelled a
witch.
