The Kolkata Knight Riders‘ fate in IPL 2022 is hanging by a thread after they succumbed to a 75-run loss to the Lucknow Super Giants. In their upcoming game against Mumbai Indians, the Kolkata side will look to better their performance at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on May 9.

Before Monday’s game against Mumbai Indians, they got a two-day break, so they decided to make the most of it by celebrating the birthday of their Australian pacer Pat Cummins.

Cummins turned 29 on May 8 and he got a cake on this pious occasion from the franchise.

KKR posted the celebration of Cummins’ birthday on their office Twitter handle. All the franchise members, including head coach Brendon McCullum and CEO Venky Mysore were seen celebrating Pat Cummins’ birthday in the team hotel as the Aussie speedster cut the cake.

The cake was unique with a layout of a cricket stadium and the floodlights. Right in the middle, a chocolate figure of Cummins has been designed.

“Nothing like an IPL birthday”, Cummins was heard saying in the video.

The lanky Australian pacer was bought back by KKR in the mega auction. He missed the first few games due to Cricket Australia (CA)’s central contracts rules. Cummins made a great impression against MI with a whirlwind knock of an unbeaten 15-ball 56, which not only turned out to be a match-winning one but also earned him a Player of the Match award.

However, the 29-year-old failed to perform to his potential, so he was benched.

Now it has to be seen whether the Australian bowling all-rounder will get a chance against Mumbai Indians. Meanwhile, KKR currently second from the bottom spot with just four victories from 11 matches with eight points to their tally.
