The long-awaited sequel to Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Emmy-winning sitcom ‘Fleabag’ is finally here. The new Waller-Bridge show has been approved by Prime Video and will begin filming by the end of the year. The plot is being kept under wraps for the time being.

‘Fleabag’ is a British comedy-drama television series developed and written by Waller-Bridge, based on her 2013 one-woman show. It was created by Two Brothers Pictures in collaboration with Amazon Studios for the digital channel BBC Three.

This is the first series Waller-Bridge has created since signing a three-year overall agreement with Amazon Studios in September 2019. It followed on the heels of Fleabag’s second and last season, which won six Primetime Emmys for Prime Video, including Outstanding Comedy Series, with Waller-Bridge taking home three.

She won the British Academy Television Award for Best Female Comedy Work and was nominated for a Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance in the series. The second and last season of ‘Fleabag’ aired in 2019. Waller-Bridge received Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Comedy Series for the second series.

Last year, Waller-Bridge was briefly attached to play opposite Donald Glover in his series adaptation of the Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie film ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ at Prime Video and Amazon Studios.

Following the success of ‘Fleabag’, she executive produced and acted in the HBO romantic comedy series ‘Run’, starring Merritt Wever and Domhnall Gleeson. Waller-Bridge also co-wrote Daniel Craig‘s final James Bond song, ‘No Time to Die’, which made over $774 million worldwide. She will next be seen in the forthcoming Indiana Jones film from Disney/Lucasfilm.

Waller-Bridge is represented by UTA, UK’s Independent Talent Group, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole. She also produced BBC America’s flagship drama series ‘Killing Eve.’
