The match takes place at a very important juncture in the English competition. Klopp’s Liverpool, second on the points table, cannot drop points with Manchester City up in the race. The Anfield camp is also pushing for an unprecedented quadruple. They have already won the League Cup (Carabao), are in the semi-finals of the Champions League and will play Chelsea in the final of the FA Cup.

They trail Manchester City by a point in the Premier League with seven games left. United are fifth and are on course for a fifth straight season without a trophy.

Klopp on Monday, talking to the reporters, said that Liverpool need to be greedy against Man United.

“We have to be angry in a good way and all these kind of things. Greedy, really, like you are if you have won nothing, like you would be with nil points and it is the most important three points in your life. That’s actually the attitude we need for this game because the quality is too high and they are too good for not being in that mood,” he said.

United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjær at the start of the season. German manager Ralf Rangnick replaced the Norweigian on interim basis. However, United have failed to change their forturnes.

“We had a similar situation when I started here. We were not flying from the first day. Let me say it like this, and you might have thought after six or seven weeks: ‘Is it really much better than before?’ When you are in that situation, you just accept that you need all the steps. You cannot just put on a magic sprinkle and go from there,” Klopp added.
