Rohit Sharma was dismissed for two runs off 13 balls against the Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Saturday. Chasing 160 runs, the Mumbai Indians were 138/3 by 17.3 overs. 

Sharma struggled throughout IPL 2022. The Mumbai Indians skipper finished the season with 268 runs in 14 games at an average of 19.14 and strike rate of 120.17. His highest score of 48 off 36 balls came against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the team’s last match. The 35-year-old finished the season with no half-centuries – a first for him in IPL history.

Mumbai Indians lost their first eight games and became the first team to be knocked out of the tournament. Coming into the game against the Delhi Capitals, they had three wins and nine losses and were placed on the bottom of the points table.

Sharma’s scores this season include five single digits and one duck.

Against the Delhi Capitals, Sharma played out a maiden against pacer Khaleel Ahmed. The MI captain looked disorganised playing the left-arm bowler’s balls that left him. He was done by South Africa’s Anrich Nortje on the second ball of the sixth over. The express seamer went full on the stumps and found the bottom of Sharma’s bat. Shardul Thakur took an easy catch at mid-on.
