Condolences poured in from celebrities, politicians and fans after the news of singer KK’s death. Born Krishnakumar Kunnath, the 53-year-old collapsed while he was performing at an event in Kolkata on Tuesday.

The singer was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead. While there is no official confirmation of the cause of death, some media reports said that he died of a heart attack.

“Saddened by the untimely demise of noted singer Krishnakumar Kunnath popularly known as KK. His songs reflected a wide range of emotions as struck a chord with people of all age groups. We will always remember him through his songs. Condolences to his family and fans. Om Shanti,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on Twitter.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah wrote: “KK was a very talented and versatile singer. His untimely demise is very saddening and a huge loss to Indian music. With his gifted voice, he has left an indelible impression on the minds of countless music lovers. My deepest condolences to his family and fans. Om Shanti Shanti.”

Cricketer Virender Sehwag said that KK’s death reminds us how fragile life is.

Fellow singer Mohit Chauhan shared a picture of the last time he was with KK.

Singer Armaan Malik said that 2022 has been a black year for Indian music.

“Extremely sad and devastated. Another shocking loss for all of us. Can’t believe our KK sir is no more… what is even happening. I can’t take it anymore,” he said.

“It seems so ominous. The news of KK’s death that too right after a live performance is terrible. He sang for films I was associated with, so his loss seems that much more personal. RIP #KrishnakumarKunnath.Prayers & condolences to his family,” actor Ajay Devgn wrote.

The singer is survived by his wife Jyothy Krishna, whom he got married to in 1991 and two of his children Kunnath Nakul and Kunnath Taamara.
