Singer and actor Traci Braxton, the sister of famed R&B singer Toni Braxton, has died at the age of 50 after a brief battle with cancer

“We have come to a time where we must inform the public that after a year of privately undergoing a series of treatment for Esophageal cancer our beloved Traci Braxton has gone on to glory,” Traci’s Husband Kevin Surratt told TMZ.

Her mother and sisters were reportedly by her side when she died.

Who was Traci Braxton?

Born on April 2, 1971, in Severn, Maryland, Traci is best known for her role in ‘Sinners Wanted’, appeared on the family’s reality show, “Braxton Family Values.”

As a singer, she recorded the hit songs “Last Call” and “Broken Things.”

She married Kevin Surratt in 1993 and the couple has one son, Kevin Surratt Jr..

Kevin Surratt Jr. took to Instagram to confirm the news and pay tribute to his mother. 

“When I heard the news about my mother being sick first thing she said was I’m going to fight and beat this. She fought to the end and today she’s at peace,” he wrote, along with a photo of him hugging his mother.

“I love my mother forever and this hurts so much but I’m at peace knowing she’s isn’t in pain anymore. I love you ma I’m going to miss you,” he added.

Following her death, several people took to social media to offer condolences.

“Rest in Eternal Power Traci Braxton. You were so loved and will be so missed,” one person wrote. 

“Losing Traci Braxton feels like losing an auntie. We love that family yall, and I thank Traci and the Braxtons for being so raw and selfless with her precious family time for us as black people to feel seen, heard and understood through their show. Prayers to The Braxtons,” another person tweeted.
