Siwalkhas assembly constituency has Manendra Pal Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) taking on Ghulam Mohammad from Samajwadi Party (SP), He will be fighting against Congress’ Jagdish Prasad, AIMIM’s Rafat, RLD’s Ghulam Mohammad and BSP’s Mukrram Ali Alias Nanhe Khatun this year in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Siwalkhas assembly constituency was won by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. In this constituency, the BJP’s Jitendra Pal Singh (Billu) defeated his nearest rival Ghulam Mohammad of Samajwadi Party (SP) by a margin of 11,421 votes.

Siwalkhas is one of five assembly constituencies under the Baghpat parliamentary constituency. The BJP had in its sweep of UP polls in 2017, won four of the five seats. BJP’s Dr. Satya Pal Singh is the current Member of Parliament (MP) from the Baghpat Lok Sabha constituency.

In the Assembly elections 2012, the Samajwadi Party had won the Siwalkhas assembly constituency by a margin of 3,587 votes. The winning SP candidate Ghulam Mohammad got 58,852 votes and the runner-up Yashvir Singh of the RLD got 55,265 votes.

The BJP, in 2017, won a whopping 312 seats out of 403 assembly seats. Yogi Adityanath took over as Chief Minister.

Elections will be held in Siwalkhas on February 10, 2022 in the first phase of the seven-phased UP elections. Votes will be counted on March 10 for all phases.
