Polish forward Robert Lewandowski is not at all in two minds when it comes to his future at Bayern Munich, the German side. Speaking to Onet Sport, he said, “I only want to leave Bayern. Loyalty and respect are more important than work. The best way is to find a solution together” adding, “Something has died in me, I want to leave Bayern for more emotions in my life”. 

The 33-year-old has long been linked to Barcelona and is likely to join the Catalans after leaving the Bundesliga club. Lewandowski has his heart set on Barcelona as earlier reports suggested, and the La Liga side is confident they can bring on the Polish scoring machine, despite the club’s shaky finances.

Barcelona is fixed on having Lewandowski in the squad and building the team around him for the next season. The Catalans saw their rivals, Real Madrid, win both cups this season – the one for La Liga and the other for the Champions League. Although Barcelona struggled a bit to regain their footing after Pep Guardiola departed as the coach, the club seems to have regained some balance with the former midfielder, Xavi, at the helm. 

If the Lewandowski deal goes through, Barcelona could be looking to build the squad around him next season. 

Bayern Munich, for their part, might be losing Lewandowski but are likely to gain skilled Senegalese forward Sadio Mane, who’s reported to be leaving Liverpool.

News of the move had come ahead of the CL final fixture where the Anfield side faced Madrid in Paris. While both Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and Mane had shut down the news of the transfer, Mane announced his intention to depart after the final game of the season. 

As for Lewandowski, he’s constantly sought the “best solution” for himself and the club. He’d told Bild about not receiving a contract offer, and wishing to leave Bayern. News emerged at the time, that Barcelona has verbally agreed to a three-year contract for Lewandowski.
