Joe Biden’s State of the Union address gathered mixed reactions from the United States Congress on Tuesday. Nearly all members of the Democratic party praised the speech, some Republicans heckled the President.

Biden’s cabinet secretaries, including Pete Buttigieg and Miguel Cardonna, lauded the State of the Union speech. Buttigieg, who is the United States Secretary of Transportation, said that he was “very, very proud of our President tonight”, soon after Biden wrapped up.

Janet Yellen, the United States Secretary of the Treasury, wrote about Biden’s speech while addressing the economic recovery of the country. She wrote, “President Biden’s policies will increase the productive capacity of our economy to boost long-term growth, protect the environment, and promote equity.

Meanwhile, Iowa’s Governor Kim Reynolds, a member of the Republican party, urged POTUS “to put his faith” in the American people. She went on to say that the United States “is on the wrong track”, while delivering GOP’s response to Tuesday’s speech.

“We are now one year into his presidency, and instead of moving America forward, it feels like President Biden and his party have sent us back in time to the late ’70s and early ’80s when runaway inflation was hammering families, a violent crime wave was crashing our cities, and the Soviet army was trying to redraw the world map”, Governor Reynolds said, CNN reported.

While most lawmakers praised the President’s speech, some disruptions were also noticed during the address. While speaking on matters related to immigration, controversial lawmakers Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert were seen chanting “build the wall.”

Delivering the loudest heckling of Biden during the speech, Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado blamed Biden for the 13 service members who were killed during the US withdrawal in Afghanistan.

“A cancer that put them in a flag-draped coffin” Biden started to say when Boebert yelled, “You put them in. Thirteen of them!”
