Cooper Kupp, the Los Angeles Rams’ wide receiver, has been declared as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the Super Bowl LVI.

Kupp managed eight receptions for 92 yards as well as two touchdowns. His 1-yard reception from Matthew Stafford with 1:25 minutes remaining on the clock put the Rams up 23-20. The club walked away with their second Vince Lombardi trophy.

Further, Kupp had four catches for 39 yards on the final drive along with a 7-yard run on fourth-and-1 to keep the drive alive. His postseason record for receptions stands at 33.

Kupp’s late touchdown kept the Cincinnati Bengals from winning their first-ever Super Bowl championship. This also gave the Rams their second NFL title since the 1999 season. Winning at the SoFi stadium in Los Angeles makes the Rams the second consecutive host who has won the championship, following Tampa Bay’s victory a year back.

Kupp, the NFL Offensive Player of the Year, said “I don’t feel deserving of this. The guys standing here challenged me, they pushed me. I am just so grateful”, as per AP.

However, credit should go to the “fearsome fivesome” of the Los Angeles team for winning the Super Bowl trophy. Led by Aaron Donald and Von Miller, they sacked Joe Burrow of the Bengals a Super Bowl record-tying seven times. This shut down the opponent’s offence after they’d managed to snag a lead in the second half of the game.

The 10 quick points at the outset of the third quarter put Cincinnati ahead for the first time. Tee Higgins’ 75-yard score made it 17-13 and was followed one play later by Chidobe Awuzie’s pick. Evan McPherson tied Adam Vinatieri’s postseason record with his 14th field goal, a 38-yarder.

Though Bengals tried to hold the lead, the relentless push from the Rams was too much to withstand. The final nail was the 15-play march where Kupp converted the fourth down with his run.
