The International Cricket Council on Friday announced the fixtures of the 2022 T20 World Cup. India and Pakistan, in Group 2, will lock horns on October 23. 

India will look to avenge their 2021 T20 World Cup loss when they face Babar Azam and co at the Melbournce Cricket Ground in nine months time. The 2022 tournament, which takes place in Australia, will kick off on October 18, with the final scheduled at Novermber 13. It will feature 16 international teams playing 45 matches and will take place across seven Australian cities. Twelve teams have already been confirmed and the final four will be determined by Global Qualifying.

Defending champions Australia will face New Zealand in the opening fixture of the Super 12 stage, setting up a repeat of the 2021 final. 

Super 12 Groups:

England, New Zealand, Australia and Afghanistan have been drawn together in Group 1

India, Pakistan, South Africa and Bangladesh make Group 2.

England will face New Zealand at Gabba on November 1. Pakistan are scheduled to face Bangladesh in Adelaide on the final afternoon of the Super 12 stage.

Group A and B

A six-day group stage will determine the final four teams for the Super 12.

“Sri Lanka and Namibia will be joined by two further qualifiers in Group A, with West Indies and Scotland drawn together alongside two additional teams from the Global Qualifier in Group B.”

The semi-finals will be held in Sydeny and Adelaide on November 9 and 10 respectively. The final will trake place in Melbourne.
