Adriana Reyes, the mother of Uvalde school shooter Salvador Ramos, denied rumours of having a strained relationship with her son, who allegedly shot 19 children and two adults to death at Uvalde‘s Robb Elementary School on Tuesday.

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, Reyes stated that she was “surprised” after she found out that her 18-year-old had gone on a killing spree.

“My son wasn’t a violent person. I’m surprised by what he did,” she said, adding that she is praying for the families and “for all of those innocent children. Yes I am. They [the children] had no part in this.”

According to reports, Ramos had been living with his grandparents in a house located near the school, with his mother’s house just a few miles away.

Reyes’ partner, Juan Alvarez, told NBC that Ramos decided to live with his grandparents after he had a brawl with his mother over Wi-Fi.

Nadia Reyes, a high school classmate of Ramos, told the Washington Post that the 18-year-old had uploaded a post on Instagram a few months ago in which he yelled at his mother and called her a “b*tch.”

On the other hand, Adriana Reyes said that the claims were false and added that she shared a “good relationship” with her son.

“I had a good relationship with him. He kept to himself; he didn’t have many friends,” she said.

Reyes informed the Daily Mail that the last time she had a conversation with her son was when he turned 18 last week.

She also revealed that she bought a card and a stuffed animal for him. According to reports, Ramos purchased two rifles after his birthday, that were about to unleash a bloodbath inside a small classroom of an elementary school.
