The impact of the Texas elementary school shooting, which led to the death of over a dozen children, was felt across the nation as CBS decided to pull the Season 4 finale of ‘FBI’.

Since the premise of the episode dealt with a school shooting, the network decided to take it off in light of the massacre on Tuesday. The episode’s official synopsis reads “As the team investigates a deadly robbery that garnered a cache of automatic weapons for the killers, they discover one of the perps is a classmate of Jubal’s son, who is reluctant to cooperate with the case.”

The incident in Texas is the latest deadliest mass shooting which comes after the May 14 shootout in Buffalo, where an 18-year-old entered a Tops supermarket and opened fire, murdering 10 people. The gunman live-streamed the entire incident on Twitch and had also written a lengthy manifesto before the shootout. His writings espoused racist ideology and gave a glimpse into the deeper malaise running in the US, as the gunman indicated the plan was to target the black community. The shooter’s manifesto also included references to the great-replacement theory, which supremacists fear and wish to fight against.

As per the Gun Violence Archive, the US has seen over 200 mass shootings in 2022 alone. Any event where four or more people excluding the shooter are killed is categorized as a mass shooting.
