This edition of the Indian Premier League has brought the fans its share of nerve-racking and jaw-dropping moments. Here’s a look at the top 5:

Big entrance
by Odean Smith

Punjab Kings
were considered one of the favorites for the title, but there were doubts about
Odean Smith’s performance as he has never played in the IPL before. He did,
however, demonstrate his class in only his first match of the competition. When
Odean Smith came to bat, Punjab Kings were 156/5 after 15 overs, chasing a
score of 206 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The match appeared to be
slipping away from PBKS, but Smith surprised everyone by scoring 25 runs in
only 8 deliveries, including one four and three sixes.

Unexpected
candidate for ‘Baby AB’ title appears

Prior to the
start of the IPL 2022, all eyes were on South African teenager Dewald Brevis,
also known as ‘Baby AB.’ On the third day of the tournament, the fans got a
‘Baby AB,’ but it wasn’t Brevis. It was Lucknow Super Giants’ Ayush Badoni. Days
before the commencement of the tournament, Badoni was a virtually unknown player,
but in his first game against Gujarat Titans, he played a remarkable knock of
54 runs off 41 deliveries. Since then, he’s been hitting match-winning shots
one after the other.

First
century of IPL 2022 hit by Jos ‘The Boss’ Buttler

IPL fans did
not have to wait long for the first century of the season, as Rajasthan Royals’
Jos Buttler hit a stunning century in only his second and nine games of the
competition. Buttler scored 100 runs in 68 deliveries against the Mumbai Indians,
including 11 fours and 5 sixes.

Joint-fastest
50 in IPL history by Pat Cummins

When the
Kolkata Knight Riders faced the Mumbai Indians, Australian pacer Pat Cummins
lit the stage on fire — not with his accurate bowling, but with his brilliant
batting. He batted brilliantly, scoring 56 runs off 15 deliveries, including
four fours and six sixes. He now shares the record for the fastest IPL fifty
with KL Rahul.

Back-to-back
sixes in last two balls by Rahul Tewatia

The best moment of the IPL 2022 season
so far happened during the game between the Punjab Kings and the Gujarat
Titans. GT were struggling at 178/4 in 19.4 overs, requiring 12 runs from 2
balls or merely two back-to-back sixes to reach PBKS’s aim of 190. Such
occurrences are incredibly unusual, but Rahul Tewatia accomplished the
impossible by smashing two massive sixes off Odean Smith’s bowling to help GT
win by four wickets.
