The trailer for ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ first aired during the halftime show of the Super Bowl LVI. The ambitious sneak peek shows how Amazon Prime Video plans to bring JRR Tolkien’s vision of Middle Earth to life.

The 60-second teaser is set thousands of years before what the book explores, or what viewers have seen in the Peter Jackson movies. It begins with a yearning line asking “Haven’t you ever wondered what else is out there? There’s wonders in this world beyond our wandering. I can feel it!”

The trailer shows the potential for the series and aims to feed the fan frenzy for fantasy storytelling, which became all the more popular with offerings like ‘Game of Thrones‘.

The upcoming series also promises to show viewers some key characters they might know from Tolkien’s books or Jackson’s films. These include Isildur, who later becomes legendary for severing the one ring from Sauron’s finger during battle. It also promises to show a young Elrond, many years away from becoming the Lord of Rivendell.
