Lucknow Super Giants defeated Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets in the 15th match of the 2022 Indian Premier League in Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium on Friday, to register their third successive win of the season.

Sent to bat, Delhi Capitals lost their way after a sizzling knock from Prithvi Shaw (61 off 31) to end at 149 for 3.

K L Rahul-led side made sure it was a comfortable chase, getting home with two balls to spare on a tricky surface. Quinton de Kock showed imperious form, smashing 80 off 52 balls.

Young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi (2/22) was the standout performer for LSG while Krishnappa Gowtham (1/23) also bowled impressively on his debut for the side.

Praising bowlers, LSG skipper KL Rahul said at the post-match presentation, “I think we were brilliant [with the ball], but powerplay is something we have to work on. We showed a lot of character but after the powerplay, the bowlers had a good chat and knew what lines and lengths to bowl and executed well. We just like to know what to chase.”

“Dew factor does play on the minds of team and everyone chooses to bowl first because of that. Last game there wasn’t much dew here and we got lucky. Today, there was a lot of dew and I think everyone likes chasing,” he added.

Ayush Badoni hit the decisive four and a six off Shardul Thakur in the final over, guiding his team to a hat-trick of wins.

“Badoni has held his nerve every time he has gone into bat. Obviously, great learning for him and it’s important for him to keep working hard and stay humble,” KL Rahul said.
