The show, already premiered in South Korea on television network JTBC, recently concluded with its last episode. With two consecutive episodes dropping on the same night, the show amassed the second highest viewership in South Korea, according to reports.

The Korean drama’s massive success could be attributed to some controversial aspects of the show. The show had garnered criticism for allegedly twisting historical facts. Several viewers expressed their disdain over the portrayal of a spy as a pro-democracy figure.

Many viewers demanded the cancellation of the show via a public petition.
