Less than a month after its theatrical premiere, Samrat Prithviraj, starring Akshay Kumar, will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. The movie entered theatres on June 3. It will now start to stream on the platform starting on July 1.

Samrat Prithviraj saw Akshay Kumar portray the Chahamana dynasty’s Prithviraj Chauhan. In a statement, Akshay Kumar said, “I have never played such a significant historical part in my career spanning three decades. I consider it an honour to portray Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan on television. As of July 1, I will be able to bring this epic saga to every home thanks to Amazon Prime Video. I’m happy that through this platform, the world will be introduced to the inspiring tale of Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, a great Indian warrior and mighty king. Manushi Chillar, a former beauty queen, made her Bollywood debut with this movie, which performed horribly at the box office.

The Akshay starrer, which cost Rs 200 crore to produce, failed to gross even Rs 100 crore at the Indian box office.

The theatrical recovery for Samrat Prithviraj is estimated to be between Rs. 36 and Rs. 37 crores, with music rights bringing in an additional Rs. 10 crores, according to Bollywood Hungama’s most recent report. The makers of the remaining films sold their digital rights to Amazon Prime with a 4 week window, while the satellite rights were held by Star Network as part of a general agreement with YRF. According to the report, YRF has made around Rs. 100 crore through the sale of satellite and digital rights, bringing the total recovery to about Rs. 150 crores. According to reports, the YRF banner lost almost Rs 50 crore in the  movie.

Samrat Prithviraj, which stars Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Manushi Chillar, and Akshay Kumar, is directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi and made by Yash Raj Films. The movie will be available to stream in dubs in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

Regarding his career, Akshay Kumar is eagerly anticipating Aanand L. Rai-directed film Raksha Bandhan, which will compete with Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha. Following Atrangi Re, this movie is Akshay and Aanand L Rai’s second collaboration.
