Ms. Marvel, the seventh and most recent in a series of Disney+ original series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s shared timeline, will take place a year or two after the actions of Avengers: Endgame. Ms. Marvel will take place in the future Phase Four, where people have moved past the Blip and its disturbances, adapting to the new way of life, according to the show’s producer.

Head writer Bisha K. Ali detailed to The Direct how the creators approached Ms. Marvel to determine its place in the MCU’s canonical timeline. “So, I think right now, we haven’t put an official number on how many years have gone by since Endgame. I cannot tell you off the top of my head because I would butcher it. I feel like it’s one to two years [after Avengers: Endgame], something like that, but I don’t actually remember [specifically]. But we do have that in our timeline,” she explained.

Ms. Marvel contains multiple Avengers references as well as references to other MCU events. Given that the character is a fan-fiction writer and an obsessive superhero fan, it’s unavoidable that events from previous MCU films will not be incorporated into the programme. Fans have always appreciated Marvel’s subtle nods to earlier franchise instalments. Ms. Marvel’s abundance will make it a favourite among them.

For a long time, Marvel Studios has planned to bring Ms. Marvel into the forefront of the MCU. The franchise entered a new chapter with Avengers: Endgame, offering the studio the option to continue it with new characters. However, the incorporation of Disney+ into the franchise’s production and the concept of developing miniseries for the platform based within the MCU increased those choices. With the television projects, the studio was able to explore a greater range of comic-book stories in the live-action style.

These stories all take place after Endgame and include the events of the Blip. Moon Knight has been the only Marvel Disney+ original to have no direct MCU allusions; nevertheless, a GRC sign in one of the sequence’s backgrounds proved that it also took place post-The Infinity Saga.

According to producer Bisha K. Ali, a significant period of time has elapsed since Endgame. It’s not enough for the world to recover completely from Thanos’s loss and disturbances, but it’s enough to get things started. Ms. Marvel, being told from the perspective of a teenager, will be ideal for taking the series forward with new narratives. Ms. Marvel will also connect up with the next film The Marvels, establishing itself as a vital component in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s future.

The official synopsis of Ms. Marvel reads, “Marvel Studios’ “Ms. Marvel” is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega fan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with superpowers, right?”

Ms. Marvel will premiere as a weekly series on Disney+ on June 8, 2022.
