Two senior Twitter executives departed the social media company, CEO Parag Agrawal announced in a memo to employees on May 12, 2022. Kayvon Beykpour is one of them.

This is one of the most significant shake-ups at the company since billionaire Elon Musk announced his intention to buy Twitter for $44 billion.

Kayvon Beykpour was born on October 11, 1988, in San Francisco, California. He has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Stanford University.

As per Daily News Scratcher, Beykpour began his professional career as an intern at Carat Interactive and Autodesk. He also worked as a teaching assistant at Stanford University before becoming a freelancer at Goodby, Silverstein and Partners. He rose to the position of CEO of Terriblyclever Design LLC and later worked at Apple as the Apple Campus Rep.

Beykpour also worked as a general manager and senior executive at Blackboard Mobile before becoming the CEO and Co-founder of Periscope, a live streaming platform that was acquired by Twitter a year later in 2015.

According to his Twitter bio, Kayvon Beykpour led Twitter’s consumer division, overseeing design, research, product, engineering, customer service, and operations teams. Beykpour was on paternity leave when he received the news from Parag Aggarwal.

Discussing the matter of his departure from Twitter, Beykpour tweeted “Parag asked me to leave after letting me know that he wants to take the team in a different direction. While I’m disappointed, I take solace in a few things: I am insanely proud of what our collective team achieved over the last few years and my contribution to this journey.”

Twitter shut down Periscope in 2020 due to declining usage in recent years and high support costs.
