Kumar Kartikeya Singh made his Indian Premier League debut when he was named to Mumbai Indians’ starting XI for the IPL 2022 match against Rajasthan Royals. The 24-year-old was a mid-season addition to the five-time champions’ team, replacing the injured Mohammad Arshad Khan for the duration of the tournament.

Kartikeya was a member of the Mumbai Indians support team before signing with the main squad for the 2022 season. In the domestic circuit, the spinner represents Madhya Pradesh and has played 8 T20 games, taking nine wickets with an economy of little over 5.

Kartikeya made an immediate impression on his IPL 2022 debut for the Mumbai Indians. The spinner dismissed Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson in his opening over of the game. He finished with a strike rate of 1/19 in four overs.

The Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bat first at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Skipper Rohit Sharma confirmed the additions of Kartikeya and Tim David to the playing 11 in place of pacers Jaydev Unadkat and Dewald Brevis.

Kartikeya’s variations, ranging from carrom balls to googlies, perplexed the Rajasthan batsmen. To elude an aggressive Sanju Samson, the left-arm spinner threw a short ball outside off-stump. Tim David took the catch at deep point after the RR captain cut the pass. He was out for 16 runs in seven balls.
