Rashid Khan is an Afghan cricketer and also a former national team captain. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm spin bowler. He will play for the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2022 season.

Rashid Khan was born in Nangarhar, Afghanistan on September 20, 1998. He spent his early life in a refugee camp in Peshawar. He developed an interest in cricket after watching Shahid Afridi and began to idolise him. He worked on his bowling pattern and tried new variations to fit into the batting-dominated sport.

When Khan got the opportunity to represent his country, he made his ODI debut in 2015 against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo at the age of 17. The young bowler did not take much time to impress and soon he started dominating the Associate Nations in the shortest version of the games.

Rashid’s career graph rose, and the leggie broke numerous records along the way, including becoming the first Associate Nation cricketer to take seven wickets in an ODI match against West Indies.

In June 2018, he was one of eleven cricketers who took part in Afghanistan’s first-ever Test match against India. In the nation’s first Test match, he returned the most expensive bowling score by a debutant. He captained the squad in a one-off Test against Bangladesh in September 2019. At the age of 20, he became the youngest cricketer to lead a team in a Test match.

He was bought by the Gujarat Titans for the IPL 2022 tournament, after parting ways with the Sun Risers Hyderabad. According to the reports, the Afghan player decided to leave SRH as he was not chosen as the first choice. He took 93 wickets between 2017 and 2021 while he was playing for SRH in an IPL match.

On March 28, the Gujarat Titans will play their first IPL match against the new team Lucknow Supergiants at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
