Suryakumar Yadav is an Indian international player who plays for India in ODI and T20I series. He plays for Mumbai in domestic cricket. The 31-year-old player is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium pace spin bowler. He has been retained by Mumbai Indians for the IPL 2022 season.

Suryakumar Ashok Yadav was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra on September 14, 1990. During 2010-11, Ranji Trophy Yadav made his first-class debut against Delhi. He became the only player to score a 50 in Mumbai’s first innings as he scored 73 runs. 

Yadav was bought by Mumbai Indians in the 2012 IPL auction. He played only one match and was out of the game without scoring. Later he was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2014 IPL season. He made headlines during the IPL 2015 season, by hitting a match-winning 46 runs out of 20-balls with five sixes against Mumbai at Eden Gardens. He led the team as a Vice-captain and played regularly.  In the 2018 IPL auctions, he was purchased for Rs. 3.2 crore by the Mumbai Indians.

Yadav was named to India C’s squad for the 2018–19 Deodhar Trophy in October 2018-19.

He led the Mumbai cricket team for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2020-21. In March 2021, Yadav made his Twenty20 International debut for the India cricket team against England. In the same year, he made his One Day International debut for India against Sri Lanka.

Yadav was called up as a replacement to India’s Test squad for the series against England in July 2021. He was named to India’s squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in September 2021. Again he was named to India’s Test squad for the November series against New Zealand.

He was retained by the Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction for Rs. 8 crore.
