Sunrisers Hyderabad has roped in left-arm medium pacer Sushant Mishra as a replacement for Saurabh Dubey for the remainder of the Indian Premier League season.

Who is Sushant Mishra?

Born on December 23, 2000, Sushant Mishra is a 21-year-old medium-pacer who hails from Ranchi.

He made his List A debut in December last year for Jharkhand in the 2021–22 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Before that, he was named in India’s squad for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

Mishra made his first-class debut in February this year, for Jharkhand in the 2021–22 Ranji Trophy. He has played four first-class matches, picking up 13 wickets. He will join SRH at the price of Rs 20 lakh as a replacement for UP medium pacer Dubey.

IPL said in a statement on Wednesday that Dubey has a back injury and has been ruled out for the rest of the tournament. He hasn’t featured in a single match for SRH this season.

Kane Williamson-led SRH are also fretting over Washington Sundar’s availability. The all-rounder injured his bowling hand in the match against Chennai Super Kings.

“It’s very unfortunate that he had a knock on the same hand were he split his webbing. It had healed completely but he re-injured that area, it’s not injured to the point that he needs it re-stitched,” Moody said at the post-match presentation.

“But unfortunately, it wasn’t in a state were he could bowl. It really did have an impact on for us in that early phase of bowling, given he has such a critical bowler for us,” he added.

SRH currently sit fourth on the points table, having won five of their nine matches.

They will take on the Delhi Capitals at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium on Thursday.
