The youngster who died while cliff jumping in the Dripping Springs area of Grand Lake in northeast Oklahoma on Saturday has been identified as Brexten Green, a 20-year-old football player from Cashion. The Grand River Dam Authority police are yet to confirm the name of victim. However, Cashion football coach Lynn Shackelford and Cashion instructor Teresa Karnes told local media that the person whose body was recovered was Green.

The 20-year-old was a multi-sport athlete who football and baseball and also wrestled during his junior year.

In high school, Green played as wide receiver and defensive back, and after Class A Cashion went undefeated and won its first 11-man state championship, he was selected to The Oklahoman’s 108th All-State second team. Green won the District A-3 Most Valuable Player award shortly after that.

“Just a tremendous athlete. He was an All-State football player. Probably should’ve been an All-State baseball player. But on top of that, just a great kid. Did everything you asked him to do. Tremendous work ethic,” Shackelford told The Oklahoman.

“Worked his tail off in the weight room to be better than he was. He was already really good, but the jump he made from his junior to senior year was pretty incredible. He was just motivated by the fact we didn’t get it done in ‘19. He wasn’t going to let that happen his senior year.”
