Manchester United has finally got an announcement to make this transfer season as the Premier League club is bringing on Feyenoord left-back, Tyrell Malacia. Fabrizio Romano had the exclusive on the deal, which United hijacked to prevent the 22-year-old from moving to Olympique Lyonnais, the Ligue 1 side.

Former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag is trying to bring a Dutch revolution to the Red Devils, and as such the Old Trafford side has agreed on a £15 million fee with two million as add-ons.

Malacia has already been impressive in the Eredivisie, and the Dutch manager reportedly wanted him while at Ajax, but due to the rivalry between the Dutch clubs, the transfer wasn’t possible at the time. Now, United is set to get a promising young player at a low price tag.

This will definitely help the club as they are also trying to close the Frenkie de Jong deal with Barcelona, but will likely have to pay around €85 million for the midfielder. Notably, both de Jong and Malacia have the same agents.

United has some options in full backs like Diogo Dalot, Alex Telles, Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan Bissaka, but the latter might be leaving, and many among them have not lived up to their potential.

Malacia, on the other hand, managed to impress, especially during the second half of the Europa Conference League final against Roma. He’s great with his pace but scouting reports suggest that the player has some problems in positioning, which leaves the side exposed. This could be an issue in more physical leagues like the PL tends to be.

However, ten Hag’s move might mark the start of United’s long road to revamping their current style, to live up to their illustrious history as one of the most dominating teams in European football.
