Wimbledon 2022 could see reigning champion Novak Djokovic and his arch-rival Rafael Nadal meet in the final. The draws for the All England Club tournament were out on Friday.

Djokovic, who was defeated by Nadal in the quarter-finals of the French Open, will kick off his Wimbledon 2022 campaign against world No 75 Soonwoo Kwon. The Spaniard, meanwhile, starts versus Francisco Cerundolo in their first-round match-up. If the two meet, it will be in the final of the tournament. 

Andy Murray, who weny unseeded, will open his campaign against James Duckworth of Australia. The three-time Grand Slam winner will then face the winner of the match between Enzo Couacaud and John Isner in the second round. Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, who won the Miami Open and Madrid Open earlier this year, has been drawn against Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany. Stan Wawrinka faces Jannik Sinner while Nick Kyrgios will be up against Paul Jubb.

In the women’s draw,  Serena Williams, who is making a comeback, will begin her Wimbledon campaign by facing Harmony Tan, a 24-year-old from France who is ranked 113th and owns a 2-6 career record in Grand Slam matches. Meanwhile, Emma Raducanu will play Alison van Uytvanck. The 19-year-old, placed in the bottom half, is set to avoid top seed Iga Swiatek until the final. 

World No. 1 Iga Swiatek, who enters on a 35-match winning streak and is coming off a title at the French Open, will start against qualifier Jana Fett. Ons Jabeur, No 3 seed, could meet Angelique Kerber in the fourth round.

The placement of Williams in the women’s bracket was the most anticipated aspect of Friday’s draw at the All England Club. She is making her first appearance in singles at any tournament since she hurt her right leg and stopped playing during the first set of her first-round match at Centre Court a year ago.
