History of World Music Day:

World Music Day was first celebrated on this day in 1982 in France. Jack Lange, the then Art and Culture Minister of France, and Maurice Fleuret, a musician and music journalist, started ‘Fete de la Musique’, which means ‘Music Festival’, in Paris. And since then, this day became popular around the world.

World Music Day is celebrated to offer free music for all music enthusiasts and provide an opportunity for amateur and professional musicians to exhibit their talents. It is also celebrated to accentuate the importance of music and highlight how it helps the human mind and body.
