Yash Dhull, who opens for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy, scored centuries in both innings versus Tamil Nadu in the Elite Group H match. The two sides drew the game. 

India’s U-19 winning captain, Dhull, made his Ranji Trophy debut against Tamil Nadu. The 19-year-old announced himself with a 113-run knock in the first innings and then followed it up with an unbeaten century in the second.

In doing so, he became the third batsman in the domestic competition’s history to score hundreds in both innings on debut. . Playing for Gujarat, Nari Contractor was the first to achieve the feat while Virag Awate of Maharashtra was the second player to do so.

In the first innings, Dhull played 150 balls and hit 18 boundaries. The right-handed batsman was dismissed by M Mohammed. In the second, he remained not out at 113 off 202 balls with the help of 14 boundaries and one maximum.

Led by Dhull and Lalit Yadav’s (177) innings Delhi posted 452 in the first essay. However, Tamil Nadu’s Shahrukh Khan responded with 194 runs off 148 balls, as the side scored 494 to take a 42-run lead. Khan was named the player of the match.

Both the Delhi openers remained unbeaten in the second innings. The team scored 228. 

Dhull will also be seen in IPL 2022 after he was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 50 lakh in the mega auction.
