Colin Farrell is an Irish actor who started his career in 1998 by playing various roles in television shows and films. His debut feature film was The War Zone. Thereafter he appeared in films like Tigerland, The Recruit, Minority Report, and many others. Colin Farrell won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for his performance in the black comedy In Bruges. He received the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Irish Film and Television Awards and was awarded the ‘San Diego Film Critics Society Award’ for his work.

The Killing of a Sacred Deer 

It is a 2017 psychological horror film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos. The film stars Colin Farrell as a cardiovascular surgeon named Steven Murphy. The plot revolves around the surgeon who finds his pleasant family life disturbed because of a fatherless teenager named Martin. Steven Murphy raised the boy but later Martin turned out to be sinister. 

This film was selected to compete for the Palme d’Or at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival and it also received various accolades and nominations.

The War Zone

It is a 1999 British drama based on Alexander Stuart’s 1989 novel of the same name. The film is a family drama that centers around the abusive relationship between a father and daughter which threatens to tear the family apart. The War Zone had a limited theatrical release in only 12 cinemas in the United States. This film propelled Colin Farrell’s career into mainstream cinema. He did not play a lead role in the film but was highly praised for his performance. 

The Lobster 

It is a 2015 dystopian film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos. This film is about a dark and funny world where dating is rigid. A failure to find a suitable partner within given period results in one’s forced transformation from a human to an animal species. The film was shown in the Special Presentations section of the 2015 Toronto Film Festival and it also competed for the Palme d’Or and won the Jury Awards. 

The Beguiled 

It is a 2017 war drama directed by Sofia Coppola. The film tells the story of a soldier forced to seek refuge in an all-girls boarding school. Farrell played the role of John McBurney who is the only male cast in the film. This film premiered at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival and Sofia Coppola won the best director award for this film. 

Minority Report 

The film was released in 2002 and was directed by Steven Spielberg. The film took its inspiration from the 1956 short story titled Minority Report. The film has an ensemble cast and Colin Farrell played the role of Danny Witwer, a Department of Justice investigator overseeing the Pre-crime department. He acted alongside Tom Cruise who played the role of a pre-crime detective who finds himself framed in an intricate conspiracy. The film received many awards including the Best Science Fiction Film and the San Diego Films Critics Society Awards.
